The City's Measure EE does not stop large development or piece-mealing.
It isn't even strong enough to trigger a vote for a development like the Heart of the City.

Our City Council does not want you to have a vote on zoning changes.
If the Council really wanted you to vote, this measure could have been built with resident input and put on the ballot anytime since the Heart of the City.
Instead, three of the council developed this measure in unannounced meetings closed to the public. It was approved in its first Council meeting, late at night, with little discussion.
And it was approved at the absolute last possible minute to meet ballot deadlines. Measure EE is a smokescreen.
Measure EE is a smokescreen designed to confuse voters and draw enough votes away from the BBR residents’ initiative so that neither measure will qualify.
And just in case this measure EE does win, the Council did not give up much. Their measure EE does not protect Redondo, as it
- does not require a vote for the type of zoning changes we are likely to see: conversion of school and city property to condo zoning and
- does not require a vote on the conversion of even more business property to condo zoning.
Example: With very minor changes the old Heart of the City could avoid a public vote under this measure.
Example: The rezoning of historic Torrance Blvd to allow over 200 condos would not require a vote under this measure either.
The City's Measure EE does not give Redondo residents a vote on the zoning changes that have been eroding our quality of life.
Which measure should you trust?
The one written behind closed doors and approved late at night at the last possible minute by a Council that does not want you to vote?
Or, the one written by residents for residents, that is backed by the signatures of over 6000 registered Redondo voters, and that give residents a REAL say on development in Redondo?
Please vote “NO” on Measure EE and vote “YES” for Measure DD.
