Redondo is a great place to live, work and play yet overdevelopment in our community has brought increasing traffic, a lack of open space, and ever increasing density.
But can we do anything about it? Now we can.
Over 6,000 registered voters in Redondo signed the Land Use Initiative - and this November 2008 we can join them at the polls and Vote YES on BBR's Measure DD.
Measure DD will give Redondo residents a vote on large scale development projects.
Measure DD will:
Measure DD gives us the vote - when we need it the most.

Overdevelopment in Redondo has brought us short-term profits along with serious long-term costs to our quality of life, as well as our City budgets. WE NEED A BALANCE.
Our opponents have mailed out flyers with a "Save Redondo" Campaign which promises that if our Measure DD is a success that our City will be ruined. They state that not only will our children's education be threatened, the police and fire departments, the City budget and just about everything else will come to a stand-still including our very Democratic way of life.
Since we helped craft the initiative along with other Redondo residents who include Redondo parents of kids currently attending Redondo schools, Redondo teachers, Redondo former School board members, Redondo business owners, accountants, retirees, land-use experts and engineers, just to name a few, we feel very certain that having a vote on over-development is not going to ruin Redondo's way of life or our City's budget.
In Newport Beach, they passed a similar landmark voting initiative, and despite cries of fear and ruination, the City has prospered. Newport Budget Data shows that their City Revenues grew 34% from 2001 through 2006. Their land use voting initiative passed in November 2000. Sounds like Newport Beach has thrived under their Land Use Voting.
Please know that out of $84,000 spent by the opposition EE from April through Oct. 6, 2008:
- $50,000 was from the California Association of Realtors
- $13,000 was from the MCL Marina Corp - the Company that owns King Harbor
- $5,000 is from the AES Corporation
- $1,400 is from Council members, planning commissioners and school board members and only $799 was from average residents.
Our supporters do not have a vested interest in development. They are average Redondo residents who would like a vote on big development projects in Redondo, such as:
-- Large traffic-causing projects on Torrance or Artesia Bl
-- School property being sold for dense condos
-- Massive 400,000 sq ft Harborfront development
-- More dense condo projects for the AES site "park" site
This November 2008, Vote YES on Measure DD, the initiative created by residents, supported by residents and funded by residents.
YES on Measure DD and NO on EE.

Our Supporters LOVE REDONDO!
"Our BBR volunteers worked on the weekends and evenings and even through the Christmas holidays with a passion to help Redondo and get the Initiative on the ballot. Talking with the community and educating people about Measure DD was a labor of love. Now we need to go to the polls in November 2008 and VOTE YES on Measure DD. It's the right choice for Redondo."
- Redondo resident, Mimi Marrs Andersen
Mimi is right. It could not have been done without our incredible volunteer signature gatherers who worked so hard through 2007 into the Christmas holidays to make this happen! YOU ALL KNOW WHO YOU ARE! You are special!
It also could not have been achieved without financial support from so many of you who understand how important Measure DD is to Redondo.

Out of $84,000 spent by
the opposition EE from April through Oct 6, 2008:
-- $50,000 was from California Association of Realtors

Marina and directly benefits from the recent rezoning of the harbor adding
over 400,000 additional square feet of development including timeshares.
-- $5,000 is from AES Corp. who fought for high density condo zoning in the Heart of the City
-- $1,400 was from Redondo Council members,
planning commissioners, school board members, the treasurer
-- Only $799 was from average residents

funded by average
Redondo residents
without any vested
interest
in development - we just want a say in development that impacts our quality
of life.
